The basic idea of this page is to sum up some strategies that have worked for me in the past. The best players can be defeated if a good strategy is used against them. No matter how good you are or think you are, you always need to go into the battle knowing at least somewhat what you will be doing. Not having a strategy can cause you to lose a fight that you never should. Always play smart and as a team. If you do that, you will win.
- Let one person take kills.
- Do NOT double team a dead mech (unless it is for the last winning kill).
- Look for backshots or dfa's when one opponent is concentrating soley on your wing.
- Try to lure your opponents away from their regen and closer to yours.
- Distract and dfa. This is easy to understand and works well with radar off. One guy keep firig lasers or whatever while the other comes in and dfa's from above.
- Aim your missles slightly up or to the side of your enemy, therefore they hit the back armor.
- When someone does a dfa on a mech and it doesn't die, try aiming your missles up for a cockpit shot.
- When you just kill a mech and are 2v1'ing the other, use your lasers and ac's. Then when the dead guy regens and comes at you, hit him with your missles on his way in.
- Keep double teaming the other mech with your lasers and ac's.
- Soon this mech should be dead, let the guy who is taking the kills have the kill.
- The other guy should go attack the fresh mech and let the kill taker destroy the hulled or semi-hulled mech.
- Once this pattern starts, the kills just keep rolling in.
- If you notice the above happening to your team, let your wing know. Then wait to regen at the same time.
- When you fire your missles, also fire your ac's. This will make your ac's harder to see and possibly keep the person from trying to evade them.
- When you see that your wing is legged or hulled and your enemies are being dishonorable and double teaming you, stand by your wing and force them to kill him with their shots. You can use your dead wing as cover.
- If you notice that you are hulled or legged and far from the action, it may be better for you to self destruct so that you can get back in the action and help your wing. This is especially true in tkz where it does no good to sit around in a dead mech.
- Take the high ground if possible. In alshain and avon, for example, stay on the tops. This allows you to lob in your missles while they can't hit you from the bottom with theirs. This also leaves easier dfa's as an option.
- In wars like in hainfield where typically people camp in their base and at the mountain it is hard to fire in your missles and hit. You and your wing should move in opposite directions and fire missles at the same time when you are out far enough. Your enemy will have no way to cover both sides.
- Use your enemies as cover. Whats wrong with an enemy killing his wing for you? He will either hit his wing or not fire. Either way you win.
- Chain fire your missles. This will be effective in two ways. One is that your missles won't cancel each other out by having too many in the air at once (bug in game). The other is it will keep your enemy wasting jets more to evade due to a more constant fire.
